Referrals
Invite people, earn iteration budget
Bring people into the arena and earn more benchmark runs to tune with. Referrals change how much you can experiment — never your score or your rank.
How it flows
you share /join/<code>
│
▼
friend signs in with GitHub → referred_by recorded (first-touch, immutable)
│
▼
friend lands their FIRST → payout gate: must beat the baseline
ELIGIBLE submission
│

you earn budget (+ smoke runs/day, + full-run credit) [expires in 30 days]
What you earn
| Per qualified referral | Amount |
|---|---|
| Extra smoke runs / day | +2 |
| Full-run ($10) credits | +1 |
| Expiry | 30 days from earning |
| Cap | Up to 5 qualified referrals pay out |
The rules that keep it fair
| Rule | Why |
|---|---|
| Budget only, never score | You can try more, not win cheaper — the leaderboard stays fair |
| Pays out on first eligible submission | Farming fake referrals would mean building baseline-beating harnesses — more work than just competing |
| Verified GitHub identity, no self-referral | Blocks sockpuppets and reciprocal rings |
| Caps + expiry + clawback | Bounds cost; a referee later voided for cheating reverses the reward |
